PLA has a particular interest in crossing boundaries of the traditional practice of architecture, envisioning innovative conditions in building and environment design; through a syncretic model of architecture that converges the technological with the poetic, the tectonic with the ornamental.
A research work on the formation of border conditions in the space, on the processes occurring within the border itself and on the systems that are formed by it.
The initial generic hypothesis is extracted from the observation of borders in the contemporary way of shopping.
We are looking at borders in different scales and diverse expressions, their existence, function, material expression, and the main dna of borders that leads to the idea of giving and taking ambivalence.
We investigate the nature of a border, its qualities in geometrical sense and its impact on the entities, which initially provoked its appearance, proposing a protypical space, possibly produced as a translucent membrane, a kind of mediator between the body and the “cultural confinement”.
The prototype systems regarding different spatial qualities, an object, that has capacity not only to act, but also to react to the site. An object – apparatus – concept that evolves around environmental preoccupations of natural and urban ecologies not only in the interpretations of Nicolas Hulot, (in the idea that the first ecology is the ecology of substance) but in another ecology, the ecology of the distances, the contamination of our extensive world.
